Endorsement Review - Common Core State Standards

PESB Endorsement & Common Core Standard Review 2/16/2012

The recent adoption of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) by Washington will have considerable impact on education in the state, including teacher preparation. Accordingly, the Professional Educator Standards Board has begun a review of the endorsements that are directly affected by the Common Core:
The draft documents above reflect the work of various content-area work groups representing P-12 through Higher Education professionals. Work groups originally convened February of 2012 and have worked throughout the year on the drafts. These draft documents will be dispersed to different groups of P-12/Higher Ed practitioners for vetting during  November/December 2012.

Additionally, all mathematics endorsements, including early childhood and elementary education, will be reviewed for integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) knowledge, skills, and instructional practices.
